@AD_smalls @jadler1969 The piece certainly has a point of view! The Madison factoid (and its narrower scope, in context) seems secondary to the broader observations about the Framers' understanding of group rights vs. individual rights in the use of arms -- and those shed some light on the WRM clause.

@jadler1969 Interesting - so the restriction appears to be a penalty for those who fail to abide by hunting restrictions? (I wonder what the motivation for restrictions was then — worry about over-hunting?) That does seem narrower than a general proscription.
